The irony of Cricket in a globalised world

I have a friend in Mauritius..the beautiful island off the coast of Africa..near Madagascar. Ganguly in form, Dravid outpacing Dhoni, Chanderpaul's epic innings and Lara's cameo all right in his living room in Port Louis...his dad must have enjoyed the cricket...thanks to Satellite Techonology !!!

I didnt see the match.. I live in Chennai...one of the metros in India...I didnt get the match on TV...but to be fair...i dont have a set top box at home.. ironically my Mauritius friend is in Chennai at the moment..even more ironic, he has a set top box at home.. and even he didnt get to watch it... well what do ya know...my aunt in Kerala didnt get it.. Kolkata couldnt see their Dada's glorious comeback.. many residents of Nagpur didnt watch the match that was taking place in their city.

The match could not be heard on Radio either...gorblimey!!!

To be fair to Nimbus, they have paid big money for getting the Cricket rights.. and I can understand if they dont want to share the signals.. but the irony is they dont mind giving the signal, provided DD have it fifteen minutes after the video is on nimbus...this fifteen min funda i cant understand, what difference does it make to someone who has no cable if the match is fifteen minutes late, its not like he will be watching Nimbus fifteen minutes before and then shift to DD to get the replays of the action, that too played out in real trime..

DD has agreed to share revenue to Nimbus for the ads on DD.. 25 % to Nimbus and 75 % to DD (or the other way round, i am not sure)... Nimbus wants the DD signals to be encrypted ?!? DD says no to encryption ?!?
The I&B minister is planning to take Nimbus to court, on behalf of the depraved Indians.... Ironically, this very same minister in his capacity as the head of the All India Football Federation has sold the rights to Zee Sports...Nimbus in turn is going to court and the BCCI is on their side.

You know the reason why Dodos are extinct in Mauritius... cos they migrated to India !!!
